American Idol Top 6 so far

I would really like to comment on the AI contestants that have been picked for the soon to be Top 12...

1st week: Danny Gokey (backstory: wife died from heart complications/soon after he came to audition) He's my favorite to win it all... He really does have a great voice. Soulful & scratchy.

Alexis Grace (this pink & blonde hair girl). I thought she sang Aretha pretty well. I like her..

Michael Sarver (big guy with clef chin/he's a hardworking guy-can't rememebr what he does actually) I don't really care for him. He's an over-smiler.. I wanted Anoup to take this spot...

2nd week: Did you not think that Adam Lambert wasn't going to be picked when they had that Nick/Norman goofball next to him? So this Adam is good and it didn't hurt that he was profiled in the auditions segments. But I think he is more of a scream singer.. He sounds like those hairband lead singers screaming their way through songs. I think he may be a bit overrated. Well see...

Alison Iraheta: it's actually good to see someone picked you never saw before. I like her voice. Her hair on the other hand is like a bad Kate Pierson style...

Kris Allen: Never remembered this guy either. He wasn't bad. I think he sounded better when he sang his song last night then when he actually performed on Wednesday. But let me state this, he sounded like he may have been doing a cover of James Morrison doing a cover of Michael Jackson. He is no James Morrison that's for sure..

My predictions for the Top 3 for next week are:

Brent Keith, Lil Rounds and not sure but maybe a toss up between Von Smith or Scott McIntyre...

We'll see next Thursday!

Barenaked Ladies Singer Quits Band After Drug Bust:

Jason MacNeil, Toronto

Barenaked Ladies lead singer Steven Page, who was arrested for cocaine possession last July, is leaving the Canadian rock band to begin a solo career. The departure follows a tumultuous 2008 for the band which also saw Page sentenced to six months probation for the drug charge and singer Ed Robertson survive an August plane crash."By mutual agreement, Steven Page will be parting company with the remaining members of Barenaked Ladies," the band wrote on its official Web site on Tuesday evening. "Jim Creeggan, Kevin Hearn, Ed Robertson, and Tyler Stewart will continue recording and touring together as Barenaked Ladies. Steven Page will pursue solo projects including theatrical opportunities while the band enters the studio in April 2009, and hits the road in the fall." "These guys are my brothers," Page said in the statement. "We’ve grown up together over the past twenty years. I love them and wish them all the best in the future.”In his Dec. 3 blog posting, Page stated he was "doing great" after losing 40 pounds. "Yes, it’s been a terrible year for the band, and for me personally, but there have also been many things to be happy and grateful for: Falling in love, a renewed sense of peace, the best health of my adult life, some amazing creative and artistic opportunities, and the chance for a renewed and fruitful relationship with my band, friends and loved ones." As previously reported, the band, which released a children’s album entitled "Snack Time" last year, will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a boxed set.The group also recently completed its Ships and Dip Caribbean cruise with a lineup featuring Sarah McLachlan, Great Big Sea, the Weakerthans, Sloan and "Kids In The Hall" members Kevin McDonald and Dave Foley. In 2005, Page, working with songwriter Stephen Duffy, released a "solo" album under the name The Vanity Project.

Gmail Users, Don't Click on it!

I was reading the NY Times online this morning and check out part of this article:

Gmail users who are logged into the accompanying chat service Google Chat, as most are, have been getting messages that appear to be from friends, urging them to click on a Web address starting with tinyurl.com that takes them to a site called ViddyHo. The site asks for the person’s Gmail log-in information and then hijacks the account, sending out chat messages to all of the user’s contacts and spreading itself further.

Addictions

I am addicted to Showtime's Weeds. However, I watch the show through Netflix. I need Season 4 to come out on DVD like yesterday. I always seem to be hungry when I watch it. Isn't it strange that the show revolves around drugs and I seemed to be addicted to it? Conspiracy????? I think so....

Myspace Music: It's where it's at!

So I am not lying when I say, the Brits know their music but so do the Australians.

Aussie Daniel Merriweather. Remember that name!

http://www.myspace.com/danielmerriweather
Check out song: Change feat. Wale

Peter Bjorn and John. they are from Sweden
http://www.myspace.com/peterbjornandjohn

Check out songs: Young Folks and Nothing To Worry About

Myspace Music wasn't mentioned on my blog before this for great music sites. The other sites are great for getting ideas on what music to download & purchase. Myspace Music is great for listening to the music and learn all about the bands & artists.

Best Source for New Music!

The best source for new music in my opinion is at these 4 websites.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/
http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/charts/genre_index.jsp
http://radioandrecords.com
http://promosquad.com

Reasons:
1) The BBC Radio 1 site has all the music first before it makes it over to the U.S. Duffy, Estelle, Leona Lewis, The Kooks.... In my opionion, the Brits know what music is...
2) Billboard has so many Top 100 -Top 10 charts to look at you can get ideas of what's new and what's "Bubbling Under"
3) Radio and Records is one of my favorites because the Triple A charts are just great. They even have Canada's top charts and Latin music as well..
4) Now Promosquad is different. You have to sign up for it and they send you an email that songs are in their "jukebox". You rate songs by new and undiscovered artists. You then get points and as your points add up, you can qualify for prizes. I have yet to click on any prizes but I really enjoy listening to the new music.

Please take the time to check Promosquad out and check the other sites for what's new in music.

For those about to get a digital converter, we salute you!

Digital converters work well if the weather isn't bad. I have lost many channels when it snows. Not a fun thing when there is 10 minutes till Lost and ABC is nowhere to be found! I called the number on the Zenith catalog and the guy told me "Maybe I should climb on the roof and try to adjust the antenna or get a antenna amplifier". I think he should have said that one first.
BUYERS BEWARE: Just make sure you get a box that has analog pass through or you will be looking at snow but you might as well go outside and play in it since you won't be watching TV.
